Yesterday, I got to thinking about the cakes I've done in the past and I couldn't even remember all of them. They were not professionally done, but they were made with love for my kids.....
If you want to know how I made these, let me know and I can give details!
Love this! I have been making my son's cakes for the last 3 years and just love it! I always give him the option of a store bought one and he always chooses for me to make it. This melts my heart because I am by no means a professional cake maker! I had a little girl last year and would love to make her 1st bday cake... do you mind telling me how you made the brown one with the pretty pink frosting? Thanks!
It's just a chocolate cake in a round pan.... I think 3 or 4 layers. I tinted some butter cream icing I had made with pink color gel. Then I made some chocolate butter cream icing. I iced the entire cake with the chocolate (and between the layers), then I used a tool from Wilton to make the lines around the sides. The tool is a white, plastic ruler looking thing, but the edges are jagged so that you can make equally spaced lines. I just put it next to the frosted edges and turned the cake. Then, I used a 1M tip to make the little roses. It's nothing more than a star looking tip, that I just put on the end of a pastry bad. No real difficulty to making the roses, just go in small circles. Hope that helps! *Remember when coloring the icing, add a little at a time - this pink took very little coloring. =)
